Interpreter Referral Service
Interpreter Referral Service has certified and national interpreters according to Michigan Law and the ADA. We send interpreters to more than 14 different counties for medical, legal, education, community, recreational, and a variety of settings. If the deaf client requests an interpreter, one must be provided per ADA policy.

ASL Classes
ASL I and II run two times per year (fall and spring) over a course of 12 weeks each. It is open to community members, parents of deaf children, or people interested in the language. Contact us for more info at 231-733-6208.
Community Education
We provide presentations and educational training about deaf awareness and cultural sensitivity to the public upon request at your location at no charge. If you would like to use our building for your own community education or workshops, a small fee is initiated.
Resource Library
The library is open at DHHS from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. We have a library of books, videotapes, DVDs, and magazines related to deafness, hearing loss, and interpreting. Our front desk staff will assist you with the material and follow up with you on your due dates. Books and tapes may be borrowed up to 4 weeks.
