D&HHS Remembers Claudia Miller
Our local Deaf community suffered a great loss in late-September when Claudia Ann Miller passed away.
Claudia was well-known by many and a friend of Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services.
In the words of her obituary: “Claudia loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and her dog. She was also an avid crafter and volunteered much of her time at church. Claudia taught the Deaf community sign Language and helped individuals learn how to become active in the community and live independent lives.”
Deb Atwood, executive director of D&HHS, noted that “Claudia has been volunteering with the agency I think for as long as I have been here, going back to 2006.”
Atwood added: “Claudia was a sweet lady! She volunteered for our Kids Kamp and Signing Santa events. She taught ASL classes for a bit and accompanied those who could not drive to Deaf events. And she led our Tuesday Group for a number of years. She will really be missed, and she is such a good example of how one person can make a difference. If one does not have the capacity to donate money, time is just as important.”
Information about a memorial service can be found in her obituary.
