Tricks and Treats at SOMI
Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services gave young folks and their families an early start on Halloween festivities when it hosted a Tricks and Treats event on October 24 at its home in the SOMI Unified Sports and Inclusion Center.
The annual event is for Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing kids and families, and the 2024 edition saw some 40 people attend throughout the night, including 25 children.
“The mood was very casual and fun,” said Erica Chapin, Community & Partnerships Manager for D&HHS. “Kids were all dressed up in their costumes and enjoying the games and open space to run around in the gym.”
In addition to food and treats, the evening also featured three craft and coloring stations and three game stations, including bowling, pumpkin balancing (walking with a foam pumpkin on their head) and the ever-popular cup knockdown.
