Learn American Sign Language Online or In Person

We offer four different American Sign Language classes in either an online setting or an in-person (West Michigan) setting.American Sign Language I – Learn ABCs, numbers, names, family, sentence structures, and Deaf culture basicsAmerican Sign Language II – Learn advanced vocabulary and get an introduction to deeper concepts with ASL, such as classifiers and rhetorical questions, as well as some basic Deaf history.American Sign Language III – Continue with advanced vocabulary and go deeper into some of the things introduced in ASL II, including Deaf history and culture.Conversational ASL – Learn advanced classifiers, pronouns, dialogue and sentences; learn how to converse with each other in daily settings.

We are primarily a “voice-off” class, and students will be immersed in American Sign Language. But don’t worry. Our instructors are amazing, and they will help you succeed! We have worked with hundreds of students over the years, including parents, neighbors, employees, employers, or friends of a Deaf/DeafBlind/Hard of Hearing individual, and people who are simply interested in American Sign Language! Our courses meet one night a week and run for eight weeks.Currently, classes are being offered with online and in-person options.

Class cost starts at $115/student.Tutoring can be provided to families when instructors are available. Individual tutoring lessons are customized to fit your needs, your budget, and your skill level. Tutoring may be held onsite at Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, or adjusted to be held offsite at your place of employment or at public places. If you have additional questions, contact us at info@deafhhs.org or (616) 732-7358
