Shelving with telephones and other equipment

HEARING ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Our Hearing Assistive Technology program assists people who need specialized equipment and/or consultation to be able to live life to the fullest in their homes and workplaces.

Equipment

One service we offer allows people to come to our office and test different pieces of equipment to see what is well-suited for you. This could be anything from smoke alarms with strobe lights to amplified phones to door bell flashers and more.

Please call Denise Stephenson at 616-732-7358 ext 102 or email her at dstephenson@deafhhs.org to make an appointment for a consultation and to see equipment.

Hearing Aids

Another area of our Hearing Assistive Technology program is hearing aids. Approximately 25% of adults aged 65-74 have some level of hearing loss, and this number increases to 50% for adults aged 75 and older.

Our staff has in depth knowledge of hearing aid resources, can assist with finding the appropriate paths.

As part of our hearing aid expertise, we partner with Kent County Senior Millage to provide hearing aids at almost no cost to Kent County seniors.

The program service is provided remotely, and is designed to assist with hearing aids for low-income/low-liquid asset seniors (60-plus) who reside in Kent County and do not have a hearing aid benefit available to them through their insurance.

The only cost to the seniors is a $75 co-pay or a possible cost share if their income is above the guidelines.
