Meet the Board - Megan Howe

As we work to provide equal communication access, education and advocacy to the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing in pursuit of all life’s opportunities, we are grateful to a wide range of partners, including our Board of Directors. We want to share more about them with you. In this installment, we spend a little time with board member Megan Howe.

Megan is Deaf with cochlear implants and works as a part-time manager at Hungerford Nichols, providing clients with accounting and advisory services. In addition, she is a full-time mom and wife. She added: “Both give me great joy to be able to do what I love and love what I do.”

How did you first get connected to D&HHS?

A friend of mine introduced me to the organization and thought I would be a great fit as board treasurer, bringing my professional knowledge and experiences with me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from an incredible team and for the chance to teach them new things as well.

What’s one thing you love about being a D&HHS board member?

I love seeing a diverse group of individuals from different backgrounds come together to use all our gifts and talents to further the agency. It not only benefits D&HHS but also expands my worldview to understand where people are coming from and how we can accommodate the community we seek to serve.

What would be lost if D&HHS didn’t exist?

Without D&HHS, people would not have the opportunity to receive advocacy services and seek resources that allow them to be empowered.

What’s one thing you wish people knew about D&HHS?

D&HHS is all about providing tools and access to champion individuals and bring forth awareness to the greater community. I’m grateful for all those who have paved the way, allowing others to be inspired to persevere through challenges and barriers and become future leaders in our homes, our workplaces, our communities, and our world.
