Quota Club Makes Major Contribution to Capital Campaign

For Quota Club of Grand Rapids, the decision to support our Capital Campaign for our new home in the SOMI Unified Sports and Inclusion Center was an easy one.

Thanks to the generosity of lifetime member Eleanor Roberts, Quota GR made a generous $10,000 donation to help us build our new offices in the SOMI space, slated to become a major center for West Michigan non-profits.

“We are so grateful for our past member’s generosity and know that Eleanor would be pleased that her donation is a significant part of this project,” said Betsy Smith, Quota GR’s President.

Quota is a decades-long supporter of D&HHS.

“D&HHS is a great organization to be affiliated with because of the energy of the leadership team and their can-do attitude,” Smith added “We know our contributions will be well spent.”

D&HHS executive director Deb Atwood appreciated both the gift and Quota’s confidence in the organization.

“We have been around, serving the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing, for a quarter of a century now,” Atwood noted. “We are in this for the long haul, and we have not only a great staff at D&HHS but also a fantastic Board. This Capital Campaign and the move this summer are so exciting, and we so appreciate Quota and the many gifts we have received that are helping make this new home happen for us.”

Smith notes that for Quota GR, education, communication access and social connections for the Deaf are now part of the organization’s mission statement and that the new home for D&HHS will be a big step toward making these more available to the Deaf community, making it easy for Quota’s local membership to get behind the project.

“Knowing that D&HHS will be in the same building with so many other organizations and services, this opens the door for new opportunities for Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing individuals and the discovery of new opportunities for Quota to support more programs,” she said.
